RTCA DO-160E is the document used to test and qualify avionics equipment. It is a set of minimum standard environmental test conditions and procedures to determine the performance before, during and after exposure to various environmental conditions which may be encountered by the equipment under test.
Avtech is a member of RTCA and has participated in the development and ongoing revision of its documents. Most RTCA testing at Avtech has been performed in-house as it has been our philosophy to risk mitigate designs very early in their development process, in many cases on the breadboard design. This philosophy allows us to identify problems, implement fixes and optimize solutions before they are too costly and impact the program schedule.
Some of the RTCA testing services performed by Avtech are:
- Temperature and Altitude
- Temperature Variation
- Humidity
- Vibration
- Waterproofness
- Fluids Susceptibility
- Salt Spray
- Magnetic Effect
- Power Input
- Voltage Spike
- AF Conducted Susceptibility
- Induced Signal Susceptibility
- RF Frequency Susceptibility (Radiated & Conducted)
- Lightning Induced Transient Susceptibility
- Lightning Direct Effects
- Electrostatic Dischargeto switch power to heating
